Look-A-Likes?

Since Charlotte was born my family has been telling me that she looks just like me (minus the red hair)...I haven't really seen it.  I see so much of Matt in her! (mainly when she sasses me)  Well, I just came across this picture of my mother with me the day I was born...it kind of weirds me out how much I looked like Charlotte did the day she was born! Take a look :)

PS- Can I just say my mom looks incredible...let me remind you I was a 10.5 lb baby with a 24 hour labor...love you mom!

Fall is here!

This morning we awoke to beautiful fall weather!!!! As soon as Charlotte finished her morning nap we headed out for our morning walk.  When we first stepped outside she was a little shocked by the change in weather, and wasn't sure what to think about it. (She always furrows her brows when she's questioning my actions!)

We took a bit of a different route this morning and found ourselves in the neighborhood park! Charlotte loved it! I pushed in her in the swing for around 15 minutes and she giggled the entire time.  I'm so sad that I didn't have my video camera with me!

Here are some pictures of our adventure in the park!

Katie's Baby Shower

Today's blog update is non-Charlotte related- so sorry to my family members who will receive the automatic update e-mail! Feel free to stop reading here! :)

This morning I hosted a baby shower for my sweet friend, Katie Sample. Katie is the graphic artist for our church. We became good friends last year through working together on the church's communication plan.  She's expecting a little boy, Grant Douglas, the 16th of October (which just happens to be her birthday as well!)

I ordered super cute invites from tinyprints.com  In retrospect, I should have taken a picture of one before I mailed them out. This picture from the website will have to do :)

For the decorations I stuck with the blues and greens of the invitation.  Seeing as I'm a little busy these days, I kept the decorations simple. I made a few paper pom-poms, tied ribbon on my hurricanes and filled them with green apples, made water bottle labels (ribbon and scrapbooking stickers) and bought hydrangeas (my personal favorite!) as a centerpiece for the coffee/punch table.  It was a morning shower so we had all kinds of yummy breakfast foods: breakfast casserole, mini croissants, bagels w/ strawberry cream cheese, fruit and monkey bread.

We didn't play any shower games per the request of Katie (I happily obliged).  Instead, we had a bowl for the ladies to place their words of wisdom for Katie. I hope they are meaningful for her and bring her peace in the days/weeks/months/years to come!

I had so much fun planning my first baby shower as hostess! Now I'm ready for my college friends to start having children ;)

Click here to see the pictures from the shower! Please excuse the excessive photos of the details, those were for my mother :)

tummy time & teething update

It has been a struggle to get Charlotte to participate (with a joyful spirit) in tummy time... I think her belly makes it uncomfortable for her :) hehe-love that belly.  However, in the last week or so she's started to enjoy it more because she's realized she can move around a bit. She's started popping up onto her knees.  Should I be worried? Here's a video of her hard at work!

In other news, teething is moving ahead FULL FORCE. The last 3 nights she has woken up around once an hour. This is all new to me and Matt. She started sleeping through the night at 8 weeks.  I feel like I've just now been inducted into the sleeplessness of parenthood.  She went to the doctor this week to get her 4 month shots (she couldn't get them at her 4 month check-up because she had a fever from the teething).  While we were there I had the nurse check on her gums.  She opened her mouth and said, "OH MY GOSH!!" Just what a mother wants to hear. She said her gums were incredibly swollen and it looked like around 4 teeth were trying to push through at once. My poor girl!!!! I'm amazed at her sweet personality and how she's been able to smile at me through all of this pain. What a trooper. For now, I'm just going to keep up with the Hylands Teething Tablets, Sophie the Giraffe, and (of course!) lots of snuggles.

I'll leave you with one of my favorite Charlotte faces :) I get this a lot.

4 months old

Can you believe that Charlotte is 4 months old??? Yeah, me either.  She had her 4 month check-up on Friday.  She weighs 18 lbs 11 oz and is 24 inches long.  What a big girl! I feel like so much has happened in the past month. The biggest change is the start of teething. It’s the saddest thing. This past week she had a fever, but she’s feeling much better now.  Things really started to look up after my mom sent her the GREATEST teething toy ever-Sophie  the Giraffe. Has anyone used her??? We now own 2! Here’s a picture of her playing with it! (please excuse the quality, I took this with my cell phone)

The other exciting development in our lives is the start of solid foods!!! We just started today with an organic rice cereal :) It was hilarious, but I think she’ll get the hang of it in no time. Here are 2 videos of her first try:
