40 Weeks and an Update

So I’ve officially made it to my due date…and passed it! I really can’t believe it’s already come and gone.  April 28th seemed so far away for so long.  And now it’s already happened! Weird.  I had a doctor’s appointment on Tuesday (sorry I’ve been terrible about updating these last 2 weeks!) At the appointment my doctor went ahead and scheduled me to be induced on Monday! YAY! So there’s a definite light at the end of the tunnel.  I just want to go into labor naturally, so I’m holding out hope that it will happen before then, but not counting on it! While at the appointment we had another ultrasound to measure her.  The best they can tell she's weighing in at 9 and a half pounds! Wowzers.

For now I'm just trying to relax while I can. My girlfriend Holly said I should just enjoy not being on anyone's schedule for the last time in my life! I'm doing my best :)

I'll be sure to update if anything exciting happens...off to watch my DVRd America's Next Top Model.  Don't judge ;)

Update

Sorry I haven't updated since my doctor's appointment! I'm actually updating from my office before Matt's service (I had a little work to do here anyway!) So there has been literally ZERO progress in the baby department. No dilation, no effacement, nada (sorry if that was an over-share).  The baby is measuring at 8 and a half pounds. The technician said she got great measurements so she feels like that's very accurate. I know these things are never 100%, but everyone seems to think she's at least that big.  I have another appointment on Thursday (April 22nd) so see how things are progressing.  She may decide to induce me next week if I've had any progress at all. She said she is hesitant to induce if my body isn't showing any signs of being ready. What if the mom is showing signs of being ready???!?!?! Oh well. I'm focusing on that fact that God already has the perfect plan for us, and I just need to roll with that :) I'll keep you posted if anything new happens...have a blessed Sunday!

38 Weeks

Woah. How am I already 38 weeks??? Nuts. I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow so I’ll update after that appointment. They’re going to do an ultrasound to measure her again. She will probably be well over 8 pounds by now. She feels like 20 lbs! It’s amazing what the female body will do isn’t it? It’s remarkable to me that such a big baby is just chilling in there.

We are officially ready for her to come; well, as ready as we can be for such a huge event!  The nursery is done, minus the space above the crib.  We’re going to put something with her name up there.  Since she is currently nameless, the wall will remain blank :) The car seat is in the car and ready to go, as are our overnight bags! The house is pretty clean and I’ve finished a bunch of the projects on my to-do list. I just need to vacuum and make the 2nd guest room bed and then I’m done with all of my chores! I really wanted to have the house is great running order before the baby and the guests arrive!  Thank goodness for nesting

40-small-pumpkin She was already bigger than a pumpkin last week…but maybe she’s just a larger pumpkin this week :)

What’s Happening This Week: Your baby has really plumped up. She has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when you hold her hand for the first time! Her organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb. Wondering what color your baby's eyes will be? If she's born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If she's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time she's 9 months old.

How far along? 38 weeks

Stretch marks? None…another small miracle

Sleep: I slept more than 6 hrs on Saturday and it was GLORIOUS. I haven’t really slept great this week, but better than last :)

Best moment this past week: Matt and I finally took the birthing class at the hospital and took the tour. Better late than never??? We were by far the most preggo couple there :) The class was really helpful, though. We had taken the full class online, this one was just a review of everything we learned. The only unfortunate part was the birthing video that I was totally unprepared for. Matt was a real trooper :)

Food cravings: Still on the cold fruit stuff…this week I bought some of those low fat Italian shaved ice cups. Delicious!

Labor signs: I don’t know…I feel like I’m looking for anything that might be a contraction, but I’m pretty sure I had a few yesterday (they were far apart and not that bad-but regular… I think I still have a way to go)

What I miss:  My level of discomfort has been frustrating this week. I’m ready to sit on the couch and actually relax a little

What I am looking forward to: Other than finally meeting the baby???? How about seeing her tomorrow in the ultrasound! That’s always a happy moment :)

Milestone: Only 2 more weeks until the due date

Since the fruit isn’t relevant, I thought I’d find a picture of something else to represent the baby! :) I’m feeling pretty good this week…just exhausted and sore all over. I’m not feeling too desperate to have the baby, yet.  I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m ready! I’m just not to the point of loosing my mind. I just got back from my weekly appointment and there’s been no progress this week. Next week I have another ultrasound to check on her size! I’ll keep you posted :)

How far along? 37 weeks and 1 day

Stretch marks? Still don’t have any…but a lot can happen in 20+ days!

Sleep: I haven’t slept at all this week.

Best moment this past week: Easter Sunday was great. Matt’s dad came in town to hear Matt preach and then we had lunch at Tin Roof BBQ, which was super tasty. It’s always nice to be with family.

Food cravings: Fruit popsicles. I bought some of those real fruit ones that only have 25 calories. They make me very happy

Labor signs: I’ve had a few contractions! But they were totally irregular, so still nothing big.

What I miss: I think I’ve just about covered everything! I’m doing ok :)

What I am looking forward to: We  have dinner with our  friends Daniel and Jean Irving tonight and Saturday we have our hospital tour (better late than never???)

Milestone: I’M FULL TERM!!!!!!!!!! WOO HOO :)

So this post is going to be a bit different than normal. The pictures of fruit are no longer relevant! We had a doctor's appointment on Thursday and found out that our sweet little girl isn't so little! She's 7 lbs 7 ounces already.  Now, I shouldn't be shocked. I was a big baby, my brother was a big baby, my mom was a big baby and so was my grandmother. I'm talking 10 lb babies here. My doctor said if I go until my due date she'll likely be around 10 lbs. OH MY GOSH. I knew this was a possibility given my genetics, but to know beyond a doubt that the baby inside of me is huge is a whole other game! I mean, check out those chubby cheeks! Hilarious. I do love this kid.

Our doctor is going to monitor her growth over the next two weeks and then make the decision to either let me deliver naturally or go the c-section route. She's really worried about me delivering such a large baby.  Please pray that I let go of my expectations and trust that God has a plan for this birth. I know that my doctor has our best interests at heart.

In other news, Matt and I both had some kind of stomach virus this week. I had to go to the hospital for an IV on Tuesday. NOT FUN. But we're all better now-not to fear! It was a bit scary though...glad it's over!

How far along? 36 weeks and 2 days
Stretch marks? None, still holding strong! Thanks mom for the genetics.
Sleep: Because I was so sick on Tuesday they gave me something in my IV to help me relax...and then I slept all day. It was a beautiful silver lining to a terrible situation!
Best moment this past week: Spending time with Trent, Lora and our surprise vistor MCKENNA!!!! :)
Food cravings: Oranges again! Yummo
Labor signs: Nothing. ugh.
What I miss: Strangers not staring at me with crazy eyes. People just fixate on this giant bump. It doesn't really bother me, it's just a bizarre feeling!!! :)
What I am looking forward to: Easter!
Weekly Wisdom: To trust that God has a plan
Milestone: The baby has officially dropped....she's super low, which is the only progress I've made, but I'll take it!
